Kurukshetra, June 21- “Silence in the agitating mind is violence against self and calls for expression to the pent-up feelings to avoid depression leading to suicides by the students,” opined Former Vice Chancellor M.M. Goel, Professor retired from Kurukshetra University while addressing the webinar on ‘Why Students are getting Silent and Violent’ organised by an NGO ‘Be the Change’ .
Professor Goel feels pain in saying that spiritual bankruptcy, commercialization of education and ambitious parents are the root causes of deteriorating standards and polluting relationship between teachers and students.
To have a better relationship among students, teachers and parents, we must strengthen the educational value of education flowing from Gita and Anu-Gita, said Professor Goel.
To stand in the crowd, we need to become unique as street smart even if weak in the present times of competition where survival of fittest is the mantra, believes Professor Goel.
Good teacher teach the course of studies, great teacher teach the students like a doctor treat the patient and not the disease only, believes Professor Goel.
Through real education as a proper, productive and practical (3P) use of hands, heads ad hearts (3H), we can achieve morality, opulence, victory and empowerment with common sense approach, believes Professor Goel.
On analysis of the release, my remark is that we need to revive both the social pedagogy and teaching professionalism to convert classrooms into community of learners
lead by the Gurus who are able to impart rational disciplinary (worldly) knowledge as well as self-knowledge ( spiritualism) to their students.
