Features of a feminist classroom: A note

Masculine and competitive classroom instructors focus on established preaching and dictative narratives, while feminist pedagogy intentionally includes diverse voices and critical analysis of masculine historical and cultural influences on gender and knowledge.

Instead of a hierarchical structure in school and classroom, feminist pedagogy aims for a shared learning experience where students feel valued and can contribute meaningfully to discussions and activities with care and share. The learners and teachers work as co-creators of knowledge.

In nutshell, feminist pedagogy subscribes for collaborative, cooperative, accommodative, empathetic, supportive and whole-brain learning strategies

A peep into a feminist classroom: A poem

Feminize self, a gentle way,

Let learning bloom in sunlit day.

Be a guiding hand, listening ear,

To chase away all doubt and fear.

Each voice is heard, a precious thing,

Together stories, learners sing.

Of hopes lost, of biases untold,

And histories bravely, we unfold.

No rigid rows, but circles wide,

Where hearts connect, and truths reside.

We learn with care, we learn with grace,

A smile on every learning face.

A tapestry of thoughts so bright,

Woven together in shared light.

This is the classroom, kind and free,

Where everyone can truly be.
