ABCs of descriptive study
A: Answering the what, when, where and how much of a research problem without any control on or interference of variables
B: Blending observed qualitative and quantitative data for a group for describing an overall situation with some correlational study in a natural setting
C: Characteristics of a situation, population or group are described on variables under study with use of methods such as surveys, interviews, observations, secondary data, case studies, archives and portfolios
D: Designing of the study is done to specifically describe the distribution of one or more variables, irrespective of any causal or other hypothesis to study their skewness
E: Examining the relationships or finding correlations among variables are analysed without bothering their causality, rather, focus is to distinguish variables that may be important in explaining a phenomenon or situation.
