International Hospitality Day is celebrated every year on April 24 since 2017, and it's a time to recognize the hard work of professionals, leaders, and workers in the global hospitality industry. This day was started by the International Hospitality Council (IHC) and Dr. Suborno Bose to celebrate excellence in the field, promote education, and spread positivity among guests and staff. It reminds us of how important the industry is in building connections and welcoming people from all over the globe.
The IHC emphasizes that we should embrace hospitality in all its forms to appreciate and include various cultures, traditions, and ideas. Hospitality unites people through sharing and socializing. The Indian approach to hospitality is particularly inspiring, as in India, we treat our guests like gods, which is beautifully captured in the saying “Atithi Devo Bhava,” meaning 'Guest is God.'
Two Quintains
A guest is a blessing, 'tis true,
A chance for kindness to imbue.
So open your door,
And offer much more,
Than just a quick wave, "Howdy-do!"
A guest is a god, it's the way,
A lifestyle to brighten each day.
With kindness and care,
Show love everywhere,
Not just as special day display.
