In 2026, Buddha Purnima is being celebrated on May 1. On the occasion of the the festival, HH the Dalai Lama prayed and wished, " On this joyful celebration of the 2,570th Buddha Jayanti, I offer my greetings to all my Buddhist brothers and sisters. I pray that each of us, by bringing the Buddha's teachings into our own daily lives, may contribute to creating a happier and more peaceful world." He urged the Buddhists to discover what the teachings truly mean and to put them into practice which entailed listening and reading, reflecting deeply on what one has heard or read, and making oneself thoroughly familiar with it.
Here are Haiku and inspired poem based on the collage of of pictures taken.
HAIKU
Solemn full white moon
Of pious Buddha Purnima
Shows cosmic darkness.
~*~
Waxing and waning
Bloom and gloom of cravings –
That cause suffering.
An Inspired Poem
The moon, so white, a solemn, pious sight,
On Buddha Purnima, it shines so bright.
It casts a glow on darkness, deep and vast,
A cosmic truth, forever meant to last.
The waxing, waning cycle, we can see,
Reflects our cravings, wild and fancy-free.
They bloom and fade, a shadow on the soul,
And in their wake, suffering takes its toll.
This cycle's end, a peace we long to find,
Beyond the reach of passions of the mind.
