CBSE offers skill-based courses in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism: Special on World Tourism Day

The World Tourism Day is being celebrated on Saturday, September 27, 2025, under the theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation with Melaka, Malaysia, as host city. In order to learn 'travel and tourism' as a subject area, and look for careers in it, the CBSE has urged schools to implement 12-hour micro-credential skill course at middle school level as a part of the NEP-2020.


According to the CBSE, a world of discovery awaits for students in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality; look at opportunities and exciting careers available.


Topics to be covered under the skill course have been proposed as follows

  • World Tourism Destinations: Explore some of the worlds key tourist destinations, what makes them so unique and some of their cultural differences. Different types of Accommodation and Transportation, Domestic and International Airports.

  • Incredible India Tourism: Look at the many types of tourists that visit India and the economic, cultural and environmental impact they have on our nation

  • Hospitality: Explore the café or restaurant scene and learn the basics from food hygiene to hot & cold beverages. Then in small groups use your imagination and create your very own café/restaurant along with name, logo and menu!

  • Teamwork: Students learn how to shine with 21st century skills.
