Commonwealth's STEM Education Awards Submissions for 2026 Invited

The Commonwealth Association of Science, Technology and Mathematics Educators (CASTME), Findel International, and Philip Harris that honors innovative STEM and mathematics education projects throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. Currently, CASTME contributes to the delivery of the United Nation's SDGs, connecting educators, of all ages, in both formal and informal settings throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. It actively promotes the role of community, family, instutions and invidual educators in learning and promoting the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in everyday lives. The awards are expected to be designed and realised in accordance with these aims in the specific area of each award. .The mission of the CASTME is to raise the general level of STEM education in Commonwealth countries and beyond. They support and promote education at all levels, working in partnership with schools, colleges, civil society organisations, individuals and industry across the world. Their awards scheme recognises innovation, awareness raising, and sustainability across science education.


There are five award as follows categories for which the submissioms can be made.



1.The Findel CASTME Education Award: Presented to the entry that displays an innovative approach to increasing STEM awareness. The awardee will receive a £300 voucher to spend on Philip Harris (FINDEL) science equipment or resources


2. The Findel CASTME Protect Our Planet Award: Presented to a STEM project which focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals such as Climate Change, Responsible Consumption and Clean Water. The award is sponsored Findel International.


3. The Findel CASTME Community Award: This award collaboted by by findel international is presented to a community project focused on mothers, fathers, carers and children and raising awareness of STEM in the community. The awardee will receive a £50 voucher from Findel International.


4. The CASTME STEM & Literacy Award: Certificate presented to a project with a focus on STEM and Literacy. Awardee will receive a CASTME Certificate and a monetary award.


5. CASTME Ling Educational Engineering Award is awarded in memory of Jonathan Ling, who was a CASTME Trustee for many year. For this award, educational practitioners and emergent young engineer submit entries for this award.


The submimission reports should describe the identification a problem; design a solution; challenges faced; project or intervention planning; try out and outcomes.


The successful recipients are announced at the Association for Science Education Conference (ASE) held in early January in 2027 in England and publicised in CASTME Newsletter and website.


Entry assumes permission for successful award entries and any accompanying photographs to be used in CASTME and FINDEL promotional materials.


The 2027 ASE Annual Conference will be held at the University of Northampton's Waterside Campus. The event is scheduled to take place from Thursday, 07 January 2027 to Saturday, 09 January 2027. Organized by the Association for Science Education (ASE), this flagship conference carries the theme "Shaping the Future of Science Education Together."


This blogger is an ex-student of the University of Nottingham from where he did a course on 'School Techology' on Commonwealth Fellowship in !977 on behest of the Motilal Nehru School of Sports (MNSS), Rai (Haryana, India) and has won CASTME Awards twice while working in the school.
