Dr Lalit Kishore, a resident of Jai Jawan Colony III, Jaipur, who was till recently working with Disha – A Resource Centre for Multiple Disabilities, has been awarded by Art House for his photography in the area of 'aleatoric smoke art'.
“The photography with smoke can give very interesting and abstract art results. Many photographers overlap art with smoke photography through the outdoors, indoors and studio-based shots by creating smoke and making it move with air drafts,” says Dr Inshore.
According to him, a creative person uses camera to enhance his or her visual intelligence. He holds that in this over-lapping area of art is commonly and loosely called 'smoke art photography'.
Thus, art pieces are created by a chance-determined process involving smoke which is non-figurative or abstract work.
However, technical term for such an art is 'aleatoric smoke art' because of the following characteristics.
Being created through chance
Randomness of shapes and textures of smoke
Constant fluidity and movement of smoke
Manipulation in shapes through air draft
“It is more seen as abstract art through photography that features smoke and its manipulation like a brush. Thus in 'smoke aleatoric art', smoke both viewed as the subject and the medium to art. For a person with science background and interested in photo-art, fluidity, diffusion and aerodynamics can be the technical interests to manipulate smoke as seen in some photographs of cigarette smoke,” he opines.
