Equity and inclusion STEM education are needed to be addressed in the present digital technology era

Concerns regarding gender issues in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education have been raised by numerous educators and pedagogues. Many institutions of higher learning are investigating the under-representation of women and girls in STEM fields and careers.

As highlighted by the 'Women in Stem' Project at Harvard College, part of Harvard University in the US, this initiative aims to raise awareness that opportunities for advancement in STEM disciplines are accessible to all, regardless of gender.

Referencing Dr. Lalit Kishore's article published on merinews.com titled "Do Men and Women Learn Differently?", the project leaders stated, "The simple fact is that women learn differently. Men and women are meant to be equal, but they are not identical and do not need to be. If the teaching methods do not cater to a significant portion of the population, then it is essential to modify the teaching approach."

On the occasion of IWD-2026, UN Chief Guterres has expressed his concern on under-participationof women in AI technology and called for gender-responsive AI policies and platforms, including the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI, to ensure diverse, multidisciplinary perspectives in AI governance.

The UN is promoting initiatives like the "WeSTEM" project in India to support rural women in building skills for the AI-driven economy. It is fostering female leadership in technology through initiatives like the UN Women AI School,, focusing on AI ethics and closing the digital divide
