Short Note

A triangulated focus group consisting of three members focuses on building a background for the research topic and collecting data from various stakeholders regarding the same issue. For an action researcher, this approach validates findings by juxtaposing different viewpoints. It fosters consensus, ensuring that school improvements are based on a comprehensive understanding of cross-curricular issues and creating a collaborative academic and professional educational atmosphere.

In Focus Group Studies, once the topic is delimited, the three members' biographical notes written and they are introduced and the moderator must adhere to the following guidelines.

The typical structure for the group discussion includes: (1) Welcoming and introducing the members (2) Providing an overview of the topic to establish the tone for discussion (3) Setting ground rules for an open and thoughtful environment, and (4) Posing the first question to kick off the discussion.

In the ground rules, inform the members, "There are no right or wrong answers, only different perspectives. It is requested that one person speaks at a time while others listen respectfully as views are shared." The moderator should take notes throughout the discussion and operate recording equipment, if available. He or she should refrain from participating in the discussion.
