Today, we’re celebrating Pi Day 2026 on Saturday, March 14, to honour the mathematical constant (pi), which is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, roughly 3.14. Additionally, the International Day of Mathematics has chosen "Mathematics and Hope" as the theme for 2026, coinciding with the birthday of the famous physicist Albert Einstein, who was born in 1879.

Google, the internet giant, is marking the invention of ‘π’ with a creative doodle on its homepage. This day is a celebration for pi lovers around the globe, and the colorful, interactive doodle is visible to everyone. It pays tribute to the importance of this mathematical breakthrough, as stated by Google.

The description accompanying Google's doodle reads, “This Doodle celebrates the numerical constant pi (π), showcasing the foundational geometry that was first used to determine its limits. Long before the advent of modern technology, the Greek mathematician Archimedes introduced a groundbreaking method.”

Here is google AI generated poem with the prompt 'write an eight line poem on mathematical concept of pi for high school kids.'

A circle’s edge, a perfect line,

Around its width, a ratio fine.

Three point one four, it starts to flow,

With digits that forever grow.

It holds no end, no pattern’s trace,

A constant through all time and space.

From rolling wheels to stars on high,

The world revolves on ancient Pi.
