An ant communicates using a chemical scent called pheromones.
When a worker ant leaves her nest to search for food, it leave behind a trail of pheromone to find way back home.
After the ant finds food, it follows the pheromone trail to reach back back to the nest. (see video clip of mobile camera)
Ants store food when available and distribute it to the colony in times of shortage.
Most ants are opportunistic feeders; they'll eat just about anything.
Ants eat other ants, dead insects, parts of dead small animals, grains, small fruits and vegetables.
