Improve research & data to serve better through contextual designing & mobilizing assitive response

Today, on the 3rd December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) with the theme was “Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World” on the social media and organinising virtual events.

Furthermore, this year, a week-long observance from 30 November- 4 December to emphasize the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Some activists have proposed health insurance coverage for assistive products and rehabilitation services for persons with disability.

The UN is holding a Commemorative Event on the theme to conclude the observance by addressing the global policy framework on disability-inclusive development and focusing on important steps taken by civil society and the private sector to “build back better” in a disability-inclusive manner.

According to the UN, persons with disabilities generally have more health-care needs than others – both standard needs and needs linked to impairments – and are therefore more vulnerable to the impact of low quality or inaccessible health-care services than others.

I feel that that we need to improve research and data to serve better as well as design and mobilize immediate assitive and supportive response for addressing the diverse specific needs of persons with disabilities in order to improve and maintain their communication, learning, well being, dignity, and independence in society by safeguarding their rights.
