India remembers Sir M. Visvesvaraya on Engineers' Day as 'Builder of Nation'

Engineers' Day was celebrated on social media and virtual events on September 15. E-cards were shared on the social media as the one shown in the inset picture along with some news stories on the observance.




Prime Minister Narendra Modi while greeting engineers on the occasion stated, "Greetings to all Engineers on Engineers Day. We remember Sir M. Visvesvaraya on his Jayanti. India is proud of the contribution of our engineers towards nation building.”


Sir M. Visvesvaraya, world famous civil engineer was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his contributions to the nation and Engineer's Day 2019 is observed on his birth anniversary. By the engineering community, he is considered to be the 'Builder of India.'


For academic purposes 6 braches of engineering are: Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Management, and Geotechnical with many subcategories for specialization.
