The submissions for Findel-CASTME Awards-2024 have been announced. There are three categories of Findel CASTME Awards, namely, Education Award (for innovative approach to increasing STEM awareness in the everyday world); Protect Our Planet Award (innovative projects on sustainabilty and climate change issues) and Community Award (for project to create STEM Awareness and litercy among mothers, carers and children). Generally 5 awards are given, two of which are the commendation awards to the best judged entries from the educators working at primary, secondary and tertiary levels from 53 C'Wealth countries
According to the awards schemme organizers, the project reports must 'outline the aims and objectives of the project, its form, target audience, location, organisers and means of delivery.' It is suggested tht reports should not exceed 10,000 words' and 'should be based on personal experience and should include substantial evidence of teaching, learning methods or other educational work.'
To select the award winners, the projects are judged by a panel of experts on ten criteria: (i)Increasing STEM awareness in the everyday world; (ii)Improving standards of literacy and numeracy; (iii) Originality; (iv) Creativity and Inventiveness; (v) Practical usage; (vi) Social relevance; (vii) Contribution to society; (viii) Positive effects on gender issues; (ix) Demonstration of effective project management; and (x) Clarity and a high standard of presentation, organisation and structure.
