Leaders to unfurl national flag on 74th Independence Day & commit to freedom from novel coronavirus

India is celebrating its 74th Independence Day amid the COVID-19 pandemic crisis with humanity still in grip of pandemic chain - which is not yet unshackled and freedom fight against the virus is relentlessly going on.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads the country in celebrating the national day by unfurling the National Flag and addressing the nation from the Red Fort in presence a set of selected people including security and media persons. Consequently, security and health safety measures have been tightened near Red Fort.

After reading an essay by a 14-year child on Independence Day, here is what leaders do on this day said in haiku. However, this year children are going to miss “Azadi Ke Laddoo”.

HAIKU:

Leaders pay tributes

To freedom fighters, martyrs

Laud sacrifices

~*~

Leaders sermonize -

Ask people to build nation

Safeguard freedom

~*~

Leaders recommit

To day-dream of gala days

Hmm..Year after year

~*~

Leaders unfurl flag

Murmur National Anthem -

Never to abide

~*~

Leaders greet people -

Wish all peace, prosperity

Amity galore

~*~

Some funny lines on modern leaders

Success in almost any field depends more on energy and drive than it does on intelligence. This explains why we have so many stupid leaders." - Sloan Wilson

Leadership involves finding a parade and getting in front of it. - John Naisbitt

Pull the string, and it will follow wherever you wish. Push it, and it will go nowhere at all (An anonymous advice to leaders)

A tip that was given to me when had to assume leadership of a school:

Once my mentor told me that to be a good leader, I must read Hitler’s book since it highlights his struggles in training as a performance artist.
