For reasonable write-ups in the form of short essays; short notes; concept notes; topic research reports; practice in the use of cohesive and coherent writing skills is required through use of logical and transitional linkers or connector words.
The cohesion and coherence are marked by one's extent, appropriateness, and flexibility of using linking words which provide a structural rationality and intrinsic validity to your written piece or discursive note with valid arguments or logic.
My experience in language pedagogy informs that at the school level, it would be appropriate to get skillful in the use of at least 50 linkers or discourse markers between senses across 8 categories.(see inset table)
