Mahavir Jayanti message: Every bad thought or deed is basically violence that taints soul

The festival of Mahavir Jayanti commemorates the birth of Lord Mahavira, who was the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism which is governed by Karmic theory for transgression of human soul.

It is held that thoughts or intent and actions or deeds are deemed as two main elements of the Jain karmic theory. Evil intent leads to wrong doing and karmic repercussions. According to Lord Mahavira, if a human act produces violence- - which is considered a bad deed - it taints soul, whether done intentionally or unintentionally.

HAIKU:

Karma - human acts -

They trap us, if unworthy -

They cause transgression.

Taints and obscures one's soul

Causing snares, bondage

Thoughts, words and action

Of violence, lying, stealing

Hoarding, lust - taint soul

Break your birth-rebirth cycle

Keep soul untainted - pure
