This year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the main celebration of the four-day Chhath Festival is taking place today, November 20.
The Sun God and Chhath Maiya devotees are going to offer prayers, 'argha' and 'prashad' at sunset time.
This day is also called Chhath Shashthi marked by 'Sandhya Arghya' at sunset (5:25 pm)
Four-day Chhath festival begins auspiciously on Kartik Shukla Chaturthi and concludes with Kartik Shukla Saptami as per the Hindu calendar.
The spiritual message is having reverence for benevolent Sun and nurturing Nature that sustain life on the Earth. The auspicious beginning of the festival is done with rangoli, alphana and mandana by women folk (watch GIF micro video).
The message for the festival is depicted here in three photo-haiku (read inset visuals and reflect).
In the GIF, a common mandana has been
shown which was ealier made by the Biharis settled in Jaipur by taking inspiration from Rajasthani wall art done on various festivals.
