A SHORT NOTE ON MEDICAL PHYSICS

Medical physics is a part of STEM education that uses physics ideas in medicine to safely and effectively use technology for preventing, diagnosing, and treating human diseases. Basically, it’s a type of clinical and medicinal physics that covers things like radiation oncology, medical imaging, and nuclear medicine. It also looks at non-ionizing medical radiation physics, which studies and uses non-ionizing radiation like ultrasound and magnetic fields.

The goal of medical physics is to enhance patient care by developing, optimizing, and maintaining medical tools and methods. Medical physicists who are trained and certified, work in hospitals, research labs, and other healthcare places, often teaming up with doctors and other healthcare workers.

Important areas in medical physics include radiation oncology physics, which focuses on using radiation to treat cancer, and medical imaging physics, which involves technologies like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs for diagnostic imaging. Other emerging fields are nuclear medicine physics, which deals with using radioactive materials for diagnosis and treatment, and medical health physics, which focuses on radiation safety in medical environments.
