The nest by pigeons itself is built by both mother pigeon and father pigeon as a co-ordinated mass of twigs. Though pigeons make flimsy nests but they are choosy about the twigs the collect.
As shown in the micro video, a pigeon is rejecting some twigs and ultimately selects the one thought to be suitable. They collect one twig at a time and just place them to lay eggs so that eggs do get displaced and roll aside.
Their nest does not look like the usual woven nest which most birds build, it looks like slight barrier to stop eggs to stay still.
though, it is difficult to distinguish between a male and female pigeon since they have similar in markings and colours.
However, you train your eye, you would find that often a male pigeon has a thicker head and wider neck than a female.
