Obesity: Read short note and sketch-note to understand and take care

SHORT NOTE

According to the study “Overweight and obesity among children with developmental disabilities[1],” the prevalence of overweight and obesity is higher among children with developmental disabilities than in the general population and there is a need to develop health care strategies for the prevention, early identification and management of excess weight gain for this group.


According to another study report in newspapers such as Telegraph, the number of cancer cases caused by obesity will be double in the coming 40 years. But, to top it, most people refute any relationship between the two.


The following types of censers are caused the most due to obesity.

· Breast cancer

· Womb cancer

· Kidney cancer

· Pancreas cancer


A research study by professor Martin Wiseman of the World Cancer Research Fund[2] reveals that today’s children when they grow up are likely to be engulfed by the cancer epidemic if bad eating habits continue leading to obesity.


The following two things are required to reduce the risk of cancer.

· No smoking

· No obesity


Obesity is measured by the Body Mass Index (BMI) or the weight to height ratio of a person. We are required to keep our BMI under control by proper diet and exercises. The three BMI ranges are as follows.

1. Healthy BMI: 20 – 25

2. Over height BMI: 25 – 30

3. Clinically obese BMI: Over 30


Meanwhile, the researchers at the Genomes Sequencing Centre in US, for the first time have decoded all the genes of a person and found a set of mutations that possibly cause cancer. Advice is: Better review your eating habits and life style to keep your BMI with in an healthy range!
