Physics teacher of Sports School at Rai wins coveted Commonwealth Award twice for his innovative science education projects

Commonwealth CASTME Award Commendations were won by Dr Lalit Kishore for his innovative low-cost science education projects done in 1982 as Physics Teacher at Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai and in 1992 as Education Officer, Central Tibetan School Administration, New Delhi, on vacation and staying at Kamala Nehru School hostel with his family.

The awards recipient teacher and the institution have also been mentioned in "CASTME Awards for Innovations in Science, Technology and Mathematics Education: Directory of Award Winners 1975-1999", placed at the Commonwealth Library by the Commonwealth Secretariat, London.

The titles of the innovative projects were as follows.

1. A case of guided, open-ended and process-of-learning based laboratory exercises in general physics using straws, tin cans and paper in a rural school (1982)

2. Development and implementation of an activity based general physics programme with the contents of a geometry box (1992)

However, Dr Kishore could not make it to the award ceremony in UK and the representatives of the Indian High Commision in London attended the award ceremony to receive the commendation certificates on his behalf.
