Alliteration – It is the language art with repetition of the first letter sound in a phrase or line
Blending – It is the process of merging sounds together to pronounce a word, e.g., letter sounds b-a-t ‘ are blended to read the word ‘bat’
Consonant -The letters of the alphabet other than the vowels .
Digraphs – It is the code consisting of a pair of letters representing a single speech sound, e.g., ph, ch, th
Diphthongs – It is the vowel sounds category that consists two adjacent vowel sounds occurring within the same syllable, e.g., au, ou, oa, oi, ea
Grapheme – It is a letter or group of letters representing one sound, e.g., b, s, p, n, sh, ch, th, ng
Phoneme – It is the basic sound unit of speech corresponding to a written code of letters singularly or grouped .to be sounded together
Phonetics – It is the classification of speech sound, especially with regard to the physical aspects of speech organs facilitating their productions
Phonics – It is the process of correlating letter sounds and letter names
Segmenting – It the process of splitting up a word in its individual phonemes in order to spell it.
Trigraph - A grapheme made up of three letters that makes one sound (igh in high).
Vowel- It Independent sound of letters a, e, i, o and u in English
