Providing joy of learning science through child made simple toys

“Simple toys made with readily available materials and paper folding or origami can systematically lead to learning of concepts and application of science as well as impart the joy of learning,” says educator Dr Lalit Kishore -currently associated with the Plenum School, Himachal Pradesh - whose commonwealth award winning science instruction entry has been translated and disseminated by various journals of Europe [1]. The paper has been listed in Google Scholar [2] also.

As visiting fellow at the Plenum School, he took up the activity of making of flapping bird through origami / paper folding and linked it to learning the levre princple and entry to the lesson on simple machines at upper primary level. Three particating children reacted positively and enjoyed learning of hard concepts of science through an origami dynamic toy.
