According to Adi Shankaracharya, life is not a problem to be solved but matter of experiencing and realising it as a non-dual nature of Brahman—the ultimate, formless reality. We need to realise that the individual soul (Atman) is not separate from Brahman or Supreme Soul. The perceived duality in the world is merely an illusion (Maya), and true liberation (Moksha) is achieved when one realises this oneness and connected to One Absolute Whole.

According to Alistair Shearer, Advaita offers a vision of life as the manifestation of an absolute, non-dual consciousness transcending all time, space and causation, and it provides the direct means to experience this divine ground of all being as our own Self.
