Bohag Bihu, also referred to as Rongali Bihu in 2026, signifies the Assamese New Year and the arrival of spring, starting on April 14, 2026. Being the largest festival in Assam, it lasts for seven days, coinciding with Sankranti, and includes wearing new clothes, enjoying traditional meals, music, and Bihu dances to honor agricultural beginnings and community unity. The seven main days of celebration are known as Goru Bihu, Manuh Bihu, Gosai Bihu, Kutum Bihu, Tator Bihu, Jiyori Bihu, and Mela Bihu in that order.

TWO BIHU ACROSTICS

1-RHYMING ACROSTIC

Bohag's arrival, joy takes flight,

In fields of gold, a radiant sight.

Hearts beat fast, with rhythm 'n song,

Unity blooms, where we all belong.

2-SENTENCE ACROSTIC

Bohag or feasting of rice cakes 'n sweets

In temporary huts with others, built by

Hay and bamboo that are

Ultimately bonfire lighted
