World Development Information Day

The UN proclaimed World Development Information Day (WDID), is observed annually on October 24 since 1972 with an aim to encourage global cooperation and collaboration in development as one humanity with exchange and sharing of information and expertise. The observance is meant 'to show how better dissemination of information and mobilization of public opinion could raise greater awareness of development challenges.'

According to the UN, "The 2030 Agenda Declaration adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 stresses the importance of quality, accessible, timely and reliable disaggregated data to measure progress and to ensure that no one is left behind."
