Sri Guru Amar Das Ji Sahib (1479–1574) was the third Guru of the Sikhs, and his Prakash Utsav will be celebrated on April 30, 2026. He stressed the importance of devotion, equality, and detachment from worldly illusions (Maya) while leading a family life. His teachings found in the Guru Granth Sahib emphasize service (Seva), humility, and achieving enlightenment through the Guru's Word (Shabad) to overcome ego.

Inspired Couplets

world unfolds, a vibrant scene,

Be present, but remain serene.

Hold nothing tight, just let it flow,

Watch pleasures come and go.

Their spirits blended, like the sky and sea,

one soul spouses, for eternity

Speak the truth, let your will be strong,

Do good deeds, where you belong.

Ego's dirt, from your heart discard,

Keep your mind pure, it's not too hard.

The Lord within, a gentle gleam,

In a pure mind, he'll make you drea

With open heart, to God I bow,

His gentle wisdom guides me now.

To help my fellow man, I strive,

His selfless love keeps hope alive.

For grace divine, my spirit yearns,

As kindness in my action burns.

In silence deep, a light can shine,

The Shabad's song, a truth divine.

With every chant, the mind takes flight,

Dispelling shadows, bringing light.

To God we bow, with humble heart,

His grace we find, a brand new start.

In selfless work, our spirit grows,

His love and peace, the whole world knows.

Be in world but with detachment

treat world as illusion

be a household filled with service and humility

spouses must live as united souls
