Sri Harmandir Sahib Celebrates Parkash Purab of its founder Sri Guru Ram Das Ji Sahib

The birth anniversary, Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji, the fourth Sikh Guru, is celebrated with grand festivities at the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) in Amritsar. This year the Guru Purab falls on October 27, 2026 in traditional Nanakshahi calendar observances by Sikhism.
The main celebrations will be held at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, Punjab, since he had founded the holy city of Amritsar, originally known as Ramdaspur and initiated the excavation of the holy sarovar (pool). On this day the Golden Temple is decorated with fresh flowers, illuminated with lights (Deepmala), and features fireworks, religious diwans, and Gurbani Kirtan.

For God in every creature comes to light.

Do Naam Simran as light fills the skies.
Repeat His holy name with every breath,
To break the cycle and the fear of death.

Lead disciplined lives throughout the earthly land.
