Environmental awareness is the ability to understand the fragility of environment due to pollutions of various kinds and realise the importance of its protection as an environmental action.
An attempt was made at the school level for the students studying EVS in grades 3 to 5 to develop and standardise pollution awareness scale for in-house use in promoting environmental awareness and move towards protecting the environment. The scale was made by creating the statements from the three textbooks and collecting data on scale points regarding awareness.
On finding the school-level developed pollution awareness scale use-worthy, it was thought to write a paper on it. The led to the awareness about creating awareness scales on three or five-point scales for classroom research. The paper jointly authored by this blogger, Lalit Kishore, and primary teacher B. Kohli at KV2, Bathinda got published in the Educational Review journal (See inset visual).
According to the authors of the paper, the teacher-made awareness scales have benefits of teacher development and relating to them to classroom processes.
