Teacher-made curricular GIFs can pep up the digital lessons

It has been found that teacher-made GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) can provide both thinking and writing prompts. Some teachers have used self-made GIFs with stick drawings or line drawings to illustrate a story or a concept since the successive drawing frames can provide animation as short presentations.


At times, using the GIPHY browser extension, teachers can drag and drop GIFs straight into a Google Doc for use in digital instruction via Google Classroom.


GIFs abound on various social media platforms and teachers must make use of them for classroom instruction.


For creating Your Own GIFs using smartphones, iPhones and iPads with 'iOS apps' eighther provided in photo-edit part an by using like GIF Toaster, GIPHY Cam or stop motion apps.


Teachers with little learning and more experimentation can add GIF animation element to their digital teaching to replace a few frames of traditional text based slideshows which they often use.


It has been found that GIFs in teaching make students meaningfully attentive towards an on-going topic. It has discovered if teacher can use a GIF either in the begining or end of a lesson it will have an impact on learning by students.


Here, a GIF that was created by taking the pictures of six frames in the collage and then selected frames were subjected to GIF application of an android phone.


The GIF was used for cultural linkage of language learning on an Indian festival (see inset visuals)
