A workshop on dual coding method of classroom communication and creating text-cum-visual rich classroom environment was held in Bhopal. "The strategy of using blended visual and text codes to helps both the teachers and their students to encode information in their brains effectively for cognitive gains of better understanding of the subject content and long-term memory," stated the Jaipur-based educator and researcher who worded as a resource person of the workshop.
Though many teachers often make use of visual and verbal skills for teaching reasonably well but enhancement in skills is required to be updated with expert support, he added which stating the objective of the workshop.
In the workshop, the hands on experiences in drawing visual codes through minimal line drawings, stick drawings and shape drawings were given to the participants by taking examples from the textbook. The idea for dual-codes rich classroom was taken up through pocket charts, photo-corner charts and word buntings or word-wall creation. To relate to the textbook lessond, the experience of sketch-noting was given.
