VERSE
मृत्यु: सर्वहरश्चाहमुद्भवश्च भविष्यताम् ।
कीर्ति: श्रीर्वाक्च नारीणां स्मृतिर्मेधा धृति: क्षमा ॥ 10.34 ॥
Lord Krishna says: I am all-devouring death, and I am the generating principle of all that is yet to be. Among women I am fame, fortune, fine speech, memory, intelligence, steadfastness and patience. (Bhaktivendana Vedabase)
INSPIRED DECASTICH
Both Death and Life, a sacred pair,
Divine the breath that fills the air.
And women hold a light so bright,
Fame, fortune, shining in the night.
With gentle words and memory clear,
Intelligence that conquers fear.
Steadfast hearts, that will not break,
And patience for goodness' sake.
These gifts they bear, a sacred trust,
Divine in them, from dust to dust.
