Short Note on Swadharma Tenet
The sacred text of the Bhagavad Gita teaches us to live by and adhere to the doctrine of 'swadharma'. We are encouraged to fully commit to our assigned tasks and do them ethically. So, focus on your duty and let go of the results. Carry out your responsibilities for their own sake. Approach your duty with detachment and dedication, in line with your true divine nature.
It is better to perform your own duty, even if it's not perfect, than to do someone else's duty well. Any form of proxy duty, pretending, or impersonation is a serious sin that leads to conflict and bondage. Therefore, stick to your swadharma, as it leads to a meaningful and purposeful life, self-realization, and liberation. Consider following someone else's path — paradharma — as sinful, since it results in dangerous bondage and endless suffering.
The Swadharma Tenet Song
Your path is best, the Gita says,
Your own true work, in detached ways.
Do your duty, with all your might,
Forget the fruit, and just be right.
Though learning steps, and errors too,
Your own best self will see you through.
Find freedom there, and purpose bright,
By doing duty, day and night.
So shun the path that's not your own,
Its dangers hide, sin-seeds are sown
No borrowed mask, no faking show,
Your inner light begins to glow.
