Training needs analysis for teaching approaches at various sections of the school: Focus group

A focus group (N=3; 2 hours; Prof. Desraj Vij, Dr Lalit Kishore, Bavneet Taneja ) was organized in the second week of December 2021 at Kukukshetra to identify the approaches and process of training with follow up.



The following aspects of training and its transfer to classroom were identified.


The teaching approaches for various sections of the school needed to be as follows


1. PRE-PRIMARY / FOUNDATIONAL AND PRIMARY SECTION OF SCHOOL


·         Learning-by-doing
·         Experiential learning 
·         Learning by activity
·         Verbal, visual, kinaesthetic skills development

2. MIDDLE SCHOOLS SECTION


·         Multiple intelligence based teaching approach
·         Concept attainment method
·         Written assignment and presentation skills
·         Arts integrated learning
·         Senior school section


3. DISCIPLINARY APPROACH BASED INFORMATION PROCESSING SKILLS


·     Dual code learning
·     Self-study skills
·     Test performance and achievement motive based formative evaluation
·    Project based learning / topic research guiding skills and technical writing skills
·    Notes making and revision skills
·   Topic-based refresher and re-orientation of content acquisition training
