A curriculum is the sum total of all the activities and materials for a course of academic study, The word ‘curriculum’ has a Latin origin meaning 'race course', referring to the course of structured activities and experiences through students gain knowledge to become mature adults.

A curriculum basically has a purposeful syllabus which specifies what topics must be understood and to what level to achieve a particular grade or standard.
