“Mental health pertains to cognitive, behavioural, social and emotional well-being of person acquired deliberately and consciously through education, coaching, counselling and practice. It is all about how a person learns to think positively, behaves pleasantly, socializes amicably and feel empathically," said Dr Lalit Kishore, educator-researcher at Disha in Jaipur.
Dr Kishore was conducting an interactive session at seminar of local special educators.
He explained the concept of mental health with the help of a 'dual code sketch note' as shown..
According to Dr Kishore, a sketch note is consists of visual and text codes related to a topic or specific concept to deepen one's own and that of trainees' understanding of concept with cognitive gains and retention of subject matter.
Also, Venn diagram graphic was used to explain that 'the more the integration of the four components of mental health, the better is over-all well-being of the individual.'
After the session, the trainees reactions to the presentation and the resource person were positive.
