According to Dr. Lalit Kishore, a Jaipur-based educationist and researcher, advocates for whole-brain education (ABE) as a tool to promote self-awareness and holistic cognitive development. For it, both hemispheres of the brain are needed to be fostered and integrated for holistic understanding rather than just rote memorization.
Kishore's work on whole-brain education and pedagogy centers on several core philosophies, He emphasises the centrality of self-awareness skills that develops mindfulness to effective learning and unlocking a student's full potential.
He gives the following formula for whole brain education
WBE = Self-awareness skills + Multiple intelligence based learning + Formative mastery learning + Student led project method
He advocates for visual-verbal intelligence and diverse instructional methods so that lessons are tailored to different cognitive strengths across the ability spectrum. His pedagogical model transitions from teacher-directed lessons to peer collaboration, eventually empowering students to take full ownership of their independent learning journey.
Here is his sketch note on WBE
