Using hand-drawn emojis for language development of kids: Spl on World Emoji Day

World Emoji Day is observed on July 17 each year since early 21 Century. It has been reported that Microsoft has used World Emoji Day in 2021 to preview an overhaul to the Windows emoji set using the Fluent Design System for the first time.

Emoji is a small digital image or icon depicting a face to express an emotion or an idea along with text or without it.

"A few years ago, during Christmas, Santa Claus emojis were created and used for greating in social media [1]. Jaipur-based citizen journalist wrote on the portal merinews.com (9 December, 2014) "Santa Claus emojis gets into emoji list for seasonal greeting on social media" He added that Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Twitter have come out with Santa Claus emojis which are becoming popular with the social media users."

"Emojipedia.org has carried out a list of emoji for Christmas celebrations. The list has Father Christmas, tree, glowing star, baby angel, wrapped present, snowflake, fire, bell, etc. as emoji motifs. Sending greetings of the season that feature a Santa Claus emoji has become a new social media trend. Emoji are the ideograms or smileys used in Japanese electronic messages and web pages, the use of which is spreading emotions or kaomoji, but a wider range is provided, and the icons are standardized and built into the cell-phones, computer key-boards and handsets," he added.

I have promoting and advocating the use of teacher-drawn emojis for language development in early childhood education and instructing children with special needs as shown in the inset picture
