Zentangle grids and patterns for beginners

 Zentangle is an art style based on drawing easy patterns (called tangles) to promote relaxation, creativity, attentive  and focus. For monochrome Zentangle art, first grids  are drawn  which are  foundational geometric frameworks used to anchor and repeat structured patterns, known as "tangles The  grids  are drawn freehand using a pen and pencil to build structured meditative  designs.

Common Types of Grids are as follows

• Square Grids: These are the most common structure created checkerboard-style alignments used for classic patterns

• Triangle Grids: They are used to create intricate, lattice-style textures and isometric repeats

• Hexagonal Grids: Provide honeycomb-like spacing for organic tessellations and dimensional effects.

• Random free-style grid: Freely drawn circles, cutting straight lines, wavy lines or zig-zag lines

 As you 'tangle,' or do design-filling. you can talk about chosen word while slowly and carefully filling the spaces with the design

The following steps have been suggested  for the beginners and kids (see inset clip) below

• Write a double-lined spiritual word or divine value word or a spiritual icon or outline drawing

• Draw a free-flowing grid with straight, wavy or zig-zag lines to create drawing spaces

• Do do pattern fillings of the tangles  inside the letters or outside, in the white

It has been advised that as you 'tangle,' or do design-filling. you can talk about chosen word while slowly and carefully filling the spaces with the design. Don’t worry about finishing the zentangles- you can set them aside until the next time you find time
