Vinoba Bhave (11 September 1895 – 15 November 1982, Maharashtra) was an Indian proponent of nonviolence, community education, and human rights. His ideas and insights were profoundly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. He is most renowned for initiating the Bhoodan Movement. Wikipedia describes him as the National Teacher of India and the spiritual heir of Mahatma Gandhi.

He was a distinguished educator, thinker, philosopher, and spiritual leader. He translated the Bhagavad Gita into Marathi, titling it 'Geetai', and advocated for a lifestyle characterized by simplicity and profound thought.

Today, on his death anniversary, I present a poem dedicated to him, inspired by his thoughts and wisdom.

Decastich Poem

Learning's within, a light to find,

Not bought and sold, but of the mind.

With hands that craft, and hearts that seek,

A wisdom grows, both strong and meek.

No iron rule, no distant hand,

Community schools, across the land.

From life we learn, in sun and rain,

Not just from books, a hollow gain.

Empathy blooms, truth takes root,

With thinking minds, a joyful fruit.
