A STEM VOCABULARY BUILDING POEM ON DOCTOR’S DAY – JULY 1: LINKING OBSERVANCE TO CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION

POEM ON STETHOSCOPE

(Note: To be recited in crooning style)

Doctor dear, doctor nice

Doctor kind, doctor wise

Hanging around your neck

What is called that device?

***

It’s a stethoscope neat

To know patient’s heart beat

To listen to sounds of lungs

To hear our muscles’ thumps

***

Scientists proposed the concept

Engineers designed the gadget

Technology made it precise

Now the gadget is digitised

***

Sixty to hundred beats per minute

That’s the normal range ‘n quite fair

When beats’re not within normal range

Then the person needs the Medicare
