ABCs of and a sketch note on social enterprise

A social enterprise is a non-profit autonomous organization set up by committed and spirited people with well-visioned and defined specific social objectives that serves an identified and well-understood social cause.


Such an organisation tends to be a sustainable entity by maximizing social benefits to society through equity, inclusion and environment conservation of environment by making use of ‘green processes’ along with maximizing returns to further the identified social cause.

The management structure is based on participation by responsive core stakeholder group who executes the functions of the social enterprise on behalf of a wider group of stakeholders.


The enterprise is meant to create assessed needs-based products or services to generate a demand among the wider group of stakeholders to be collectively priced and professionally fulfilled with satisfaction of wider group of stakeholders and sustained growth of the enterprise.


Since a social enterprise is learning and evolving non-profit social organisation, humility, volunteerism, critical collective reviews, honesty and transparency are the values on which has to remain values-based to sustain itself by avoiding internal conflicts caused by personal ulterior conflicts.


Here are ABCs of a social enterprise.


A: Awareness about what you know, what you ought to know and what you don’t know through a visioning exercise

B: Beware of barriers, risks, threats and challenges for scenario planning and alternative action plans

C: Compile a list of resources for knowing and training including mentoring and go for planned seeking with motive of learning-by-doing

D: Do things as fast as you can or make a quick beginning to learn by doing through quick reviews and corrections

E: Evolve a cause-oriented team work culture that is valued to keep energy levels and optimism high
