ABCs of Feminist Participatory Action Research


Action research pertains to researching own actions to improve one’s own profession practice objectively. However, in collaborative learning processes and collective social action at grassroots level, collective and participatory actions by involving women have been suggested for social transformation and affect changes to make own practices more equitable, inclusive and empowering which is called Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR).


Here are the ABCs of the FPAR.


A: Amplification and inclusion of girls’ and women’s voices and their articulation in action research
B: Building action research environment leading collective action leading to self-transformation and social transformation as end-points of research
C: Carrying out inter-sectional approach to action research for collective ownership and empowerment
D: Devising ways and means as structural changes in power sharing as outcomes of research
E: Emphasizing common concerns, collaboration, solidarity and empowermeant of participant in action research
