Individually Guided System of Instruction (IGSI) is an educational innovation that has roots in educational psychology of thinking emphasising self study skills.
BK Aggarwal (PGT Chemistry), HS Puri (PGT Physics) and Dr Lalit Kishore (Principal), KV2, NLF, Bathinda in early 1990s did some lesson studies and published papers.
On revisiting the work done by them, the system of instruction that was implemented. I tried to cull out the ABCs of the instructional strategy after the web searches in the books section.
Here are ABCs of the IGSI that was tried out.
A: Approach to learning with emphasis on mastery of concepts and content
B: Based on the quality premise that most children can learn well and instruction can be planned and supplemented to meet the set standards
C: Curriculum in study units of levels of learning coupled with multi-unit school organization
D: differentiated staffing, team teaching, peer tutoring and adds-on
E: Evaluation that is criterion based, formative and periodical
