ABCs of Log Framework Analysis approach to project planning & management to meet specific outcomes

A discussion on the use of Log Framework Analysis (LFA) for the envisaged partnership project was held among Dr Lalit Kishore, Chairperson, BNS; Ipsapratibimta Sarangi, visiting representative of NFI and Rama Sharma, BNS, which led to an understanding of the planning and management tool as expressed in the following ABC verse.


ABCs of LFA


A: Approach to design, monitor and evaluate time-bound projects with assumptions, indicators and sources of verification

B: Based on well-defined objectives and key indicators to monitor and chart the progress of the progress with mid-course corrections is produced

C: Close-ended, goal-oriented project planning with specific measurable objectives and ensuring their achievement strategically

D: Determining needs, focal area, targets, stakeholders, stared objectives and means of verification such as MIS and other records

E: Estimates, budget and utilization of allocated funds with requisite inputs and resources including capacity building and HR development

F: Framework as project planning matrix with a narrative summary of project with verifiable indicators, project scale, stakeholders, expected outcomes


After the discussion, the scale of the project was worked out on the basis of available funds which was as follows: Bridge School Canters (4 Muslims villages in Niwai), three-month coaching centre for Muslim girls (14-30 years) at Niwai town ; and foundation stage school for girls (age 3-7 years) under NEP-2020 at Chaksu. Further, the community mobilization, Identification of students and selection of teachers was the next steps to be undertaken.


The visitor from the NFI promised to coach Rama Sharma in preparing the LFA for the project so as the partnered project initiation, monitoring and implementation be done.
