Jaipur based educator and researcher, Dr Lalit Kishore, has been conferred membership of the Indian Academy of Science Communication for his noted contribution in science communication and having won the National Award for Popularizing Science among Children (1988).
Dr KIshore has won 11 national level awards and has been honoured with Commonwealth Award 17 times for his contribution in STEM education. His name and noteworthy contribution in science communication have been mentioned in a book on scientific development in the country.
He has been on the NCERT’s Journal Advisory Committee for 5 years and they have made 20 odd films on his innovative low-cost experiments which were telecast under Tarang programme of Doordarshan-2.
Currently, Dr Kishore is on an assignment for science instruction pedagogy at the Plenum School in Himachal Pradesh. He is engaged in micro-learning based science pedagogy relevant for small schools. Under this pedagogy, the designed learning sheets used for science instruction which have teacher-learner interaction; learner-learner interaction and learner-material interaction, facilitate daily classroom sessions.
The communiqué of April 4, 2022, from the Academy stated, “You will be happy to know that Indian Academy of Science Communication is being established under the guidance of NCSTC, DST, Government of India. In its initial phase, the national awardees in science communication will be given membership in the form of a council on their interest; work domains and willingness to contribute to science communication through various modes....You are being offered membership of this council of distinguished awardees. Congratulations to you!”
Earlier, Dr Inshore was offered NCSTC-Fellowship for one year for science popularization and they have published his book on low-cost science experiments.
