AI dependence can be detrimental to brain development
AI dependence can be detrimental to brain development

A recent study done at MIT’s Media Lab shared on various platforms reveals that dependence upon LLMs such as chatGpt for immediate convenience of gathering information retards brain development.

The sample of the study (N= 54; Age group: 18-39 years) from the Boston of the US were divided into three groups ( A: OpenAI’s ChatGPT group; B: Google’s search engine, and C: Nothing at all). The groups were asked to write several SAT essays and their brain activities were studied using EEG employed at 32 brain regions.

It was found that among the three groups, the Group A members had the lowest brain engagement and got duller with each subsequent essay like drug addicts. Most of them   resorted to hard-wired copy-and-paste habit by the end of the study.

Here is my limerick that summarises the results of the study

AI –TRAP: LIMERICK

Use of chatGPT for knowledge gain

Makes you addict and rots your brain

Tool-dependence is a cognitive debt

It makes you moron, MIT scientists bet

Rid tech-tool trap, become not insane
