Contours and Significance of STEM Education

According to National Inventor's Hall of Fame (NIHF), 'hands-on STEM programs and activities teach more than science and mathematics concepts. They help your child discover real-world applications, spark their creativity and develop 21st-century skills including media and technology literacy, productivity, social skills, communication, flexibility and initiative.'

NIHF adds, "STEM learning also promotes critical thinking, curiosity, persistence, decision-making, leadership, entrepreneurship, acceptance of failure and more. Regardless of your child’s career aspirations, these skill sets will go a long way in preparing them for their future."

The following statements can be helpful in clarity about contours of STEM education.

~STEM education is the integration of the four subjects into comprehensive one subject through the interdisciplinary curriculum for dealing with current real-world situations and apply their learnings to solve problems, create, innovate, and discover.

~STEM literacy is the effort to acquire basic vocabulary and ability to apply understanding that how the world works within and across four interrelated domains or disciplines to provide solutions the current real life needs and challenges.
